Senator Steve Daines today announced that Chairman of the Crow Nation Darrin Old Coyote will be featured as a keynote speaker at Montana Energy 2016.
“I’m thrilled that Chairman Old Coyote will continue to demonstrate his leadership on coal as a keynote speaker at Montana Energy 2016,” Daines stated. “Chairman Old Coyote has an unparallelled perspective as a leader of one of Montana’s tribe’s that depends largely on coal for tax revenue and jobs. Chairman Old Coyote has dedicated his life to serving Crow Nation and I look forward to hearing his important perspective on the future of Indian coal.”
Montana Energy 2016 will be held in Billings on March 30-31 and will serve as the largest avenue to discuss Montana’s energy potential. It is back for a third round this spring with a fresh new look and perspective. Led by Daines, the two-day comprehensive conference will continue the discussion around state and national energy opportunities and provide an all-encompassing look at Montana’s energy potential.
Darrin Old Coyote is the 21st Chairman of the Executive Branch of the Crow Nation and was elected in 2012. He was previously elected and served as Vice-Secretary for two terms beginning in 2004. Before serving on his tribe’s government, Darrin was a language teacher with the Crow Tribe’s Head Start program, and taught Crow music and dance and also Crow language and history at Lodge Grass schools. Darrin attended Little Big Horn College and Concordia College.
Sponsors of the conference include Daines, BNSF Railway, MDU Resources, Cloud Peak Energy, First Interstate Bank, NorthWestern Energy, the Montana Contractors Association, the Montana Coal Council, the Montana Petroleum Association, the Montana Chamber Foundation and KLJ.
